This year marks 20-20 Trustees 40th birthday. From humble beginnings to almost tripling in size since 2017, we’re meeting the team that make the magic happen. Next up, we meet Stuart Travers.
Growing up I wanted to be a Train Driver. However my first ever job was a Paper Boy. Followed by Saturday assistant in a Television shop, installing VCR’s and Satellite systems!
Outside of work, I love Classic Cars, Bristol Rovers (UTG), Rugby, DIY, playing the guitar, and anything to do with Sci-Fi or Marvel!
I joined the pensions industry in 1991. Everything was worked out on paper with templates, overnight batch processing to change an address, with one computer between six people! Now data, information and knowledge is available at the touch of a button, but today’s industry is far more robust in terms of governance and direction. Every day is a school day, as you learn something new almost all the time.
I love DIY! So the most useful app I have on my phone is Screwfix.
I have a black Labrador called Daisy.
My favourite thing about working at 20-20 is the People. Slightly cliché, but they are the most amazing people to work with, both for who they are as people, and what each of them brings to the party.
For my 40th birthday, I went for a meal with my family, followed by a pub crawl round Bristol with my friends. After that, I can’t remember (lol!)
My proudest moment at 20-20 was winning my first client. It was also great being part of the 40th birthday activity team, and meeting all my colleagues in person for the first time.
The last gig I went to was an 80’s Concert. Featuring Go West, Nik Kershaw and Cutting Crew.
If I was to give advice to my younger self, it would be to write everything down. Absorb all the knowledge you can and never present problems, but solutions, which can be discussed and chosen: a lesson I teach my children!
