Mandy joined 20-20 Trustees in January 2020 with over 15 years of legal experience, 10 of which as a senior pensions lawyer at Eversheds Sutherland’s midlands pensions practice.
Mandy has in-depth knowledge and experience of both defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes ranging from £5 million to multi-billion pounds arrangements. This experience has been gained across various business sectors including automotive, computer, education, energy & water, financial services, manufacturing, mining, pharmaceutical and the public sector.
Mandy has advised both Trustees and sponsors on a wide range of pension issues including funding disputes, liability management projects, scheme mergers, buy-ins/buy-outs, governance matters, scheme closure exercises and dispute resolution (including IDRP complaints).
Her recent highlights include advising on: (i) a £1 billion scheme on a complicated valuation involving proactive involvement from the Pensions Regulator and a potential takeover during the process (ii) a three-scheme DB merger involving complex discussions over the mechanism which allocates section 75 debt liability, (iii) a cross border scheme on the management of its liabilities in multiple European jurisdictions following Brexit and (iv) the full buy-out of DB liabilities with a complex benefit structure and the transfer of DC liabilities to a master trust arrangement within a tight timescale.
Mandy’s commercial acumen and strong interpersonal skills enable her to build credible relations and to work collaboratively with other members of the Trustee Board and sponsors. She is recognised for her pragmatic approach and her ability to identify innovative solutions which balances legal risks with commercial needs whilst protecting members’ interests.
