Shay joined 20-20 Trustees in January 2021 as a Senior Trustee Consultant and is based in the London office. He joined after over three years at specialist corporate pensions advisory firm, Lincoln Pensions. Shay has experience working with a number of clients across myriad sectors, including large corporates and not-for-profit organisations, with defined benefit scheme assets ranging from £10m to £20bn, on employer covenant matters including covenant assessments for triennial valuations and subsequent negotiations, periodic integrated risk management monitoring reports. He has also assisted sponsors and trustees across a range of special situations which include event-driven M&A, in-depth affordability assessments, individual payment plan negotiations, apportionment arrangements, PPF certification reviews and TPR engagement meetings.
Shay started his career in 2015 after graduating with a First Class Honours degree in BSc (Hons) Mathematics, Accounting and Financial Management from Loughborough University with a Diploma in Professional Studies having completed a one-year work placement as a Credit Analyst at UBS as part of his undergraduate degree. Prior to entering the pensions industry, he spent the first two years of his career undertaking a number of middle office roles across investment banking and private equity.
Shay is passionate about diversity, inclusion and equity, social mobility, social justice and supports a number of young people from underprivileged backgrounds. He is a member of the Early Careers workstream for the Diversity Project, the Oppidan Foundation, the Black British City Group, the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Black Business Association and he also works with a number of charities on these aforementioned issues.
In other spare time, Shay can be found celebrating with friends and family (usually at another wedding), on a long walking trail/hiking trip, or searching for his next holiday destination!
