Role Purpose

To assist in the provision of pension payroll, cash management and accounting services to clients of Trust-Based Pensions.

Key Accountabilities

Cash Management and Accounting Services support

  • Maintaining cash book records for each client on the accounting system used
  • Dealing with the Accounting for Tax Quarterly Returns and Self-Assessment Tax Returns for clients
  • Monitoring cash flows
  • Providing cash management information for Trustees’ meetings, client reports
  • Providing information to the Actuaries for FRS17 figures
  • Weekly check of bank accounts report i.e. balance, BACS rejections, unusual transactions
  • Monthly Bank Statement reconciliation report
  • Monthly Pension Payroll report sheet
  • To provide assistance as required by the Pension Fund Accountant in the preparation of the draft Trustees’ Report & Accounts for clients of Trust-Based Pensions
  • Any other cash management and accounting duties as required by the business
  • To update time records on a daily basis
  • To be flexible and provide other such support as would reasonably be expected within the role

Payroll Services support

  • Processing new pensioners, leavers, deaths and one-off payments
  • Maintaining the monthly payroll file
  • Processing and submitting monthly payrolls
  • Printing and issuing of monthly payslips
  • Submitting statutory year end returns and printing and issuing P60s
  • Making appropriate ledger entries in the accounting system in respect of pension payrolls

Any other payroll duties as required by the business

  • Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English Grade C or above
  • Previous experience of providing cash management and accounting services


  • Experience of working for a Third Party Administrator or in-house pension scheme
  • Previous experience of providing pension payroll with a Third Party Administrators or in-house pension scheme
  • Previous experience of SAGE payroll or similar payroll software
  • Willingness to study for AAT qualification
